What is Yada Yada?

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

Yada Yada is a two day weekend event designed specifically for 7th–12th grade girls and mothers. Each event consists of worship, general sessions, and separate workshop tracks for middle school girls, high school girls, and mothers. The events focus on attributes of virtue, such as moral excellence, purity, strength, and worth. In addition, workshops will address issues common to each age demographic and encourage young women to practice virtue in their everyday lives. During the closing commitment time at the events, each girl is given the opportunity to sign a pledge of virtue as a covenant with God.

Months after naming the event, “Yada Yada” and choosing Psalm 139:14 as the theme verse, it was discovered that the Hebrew words for “praise” and “know” in the verse are “yadah” and “yada.” Yada Yada, no doubt, is an event established by God.

Where did Yada Yada start?

Virtuous Reality® Ministries was founded by Vicki Courtney in 1998 as a ministry to college women. As a past agnostic and feminist, Vicki discovered firsthand the devastating consequences of a life molded by the culture. After a radical conversion to Christianity in her college years, she asked God to use her for His eternal purposes. In her ministry to college women, she came across countless college women, Christians and non-Christians alike, that had fallen prey to the lies of the culture.

As a mentor to college women as well as the mother of a daughter, she was deeply concerned about the culture’s negative influences on preteen and teen girls and the resulting fallout. No longer content to stand on the sidelines and watch the world take the hands of our girls and lead them through life, she vowed to be a part of positive change. She asked God to use Virtuous Reality Ministries as a tool to initiate a new and better women’s movement.

Today, Virtuous Reality Ministries is influencing the younger generation through events, resources, and its website, which features age-appropriate online magazines. The goal is always the same: To counteract the cheap brand of “girl power” peddled by the culture and offer girls the real thing. True girl power is about being liberated in Jesus Christ and living a life in accordance to His will. Virtuous Reality Ministries is committed to encouraging young women to make virtue a reality. If virtue is to be a reality, the movement must first begin in individual hearts, one girl at a time.
