About Us

vir - tue [ver-choo] noun:
     moral excellence, worth, purity, strength

Beyond the mere misconception of just “being good,” virtue is an attribute that simply reveals the heart and character of an individual. In recognizing the media’s shortcomings in portraying true virtue in the everyday lives of young women, Virtuous Reality Ministries has taken upon itself the mission of making virtue a reality, rather than a simple after thought. virtuousreality.com was created for middle school and high school girls as a wholesome alternative to the trashy fashion magazines that bid for their attention.

Founded in 1998 by Vicki Courtney, Virtuous Reality encourages and supports woman of all ages in its quest to expose and counteract culture-generated ideals of beauty, love and worth with that of Biblical Truth. Virtuous Reality’s passion is to be a stimulus behind a new and better women's movement.

Tackling such issues as relationships, purity, worth, image, relationships, character and spiritual growth, the ministry encourages young women to take ownership of their faith and identity in Christ through its outreach of resources, events and online media.

Virtuous Reality is a non-denominational 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization. The ministry is funded through online sponsorships and resource revenue as well as the generous contributions of corporate and private donors.

Statement of Faith

Virtuous Reality is a non-denominational ministry committed to helping young women in their understanding of Bible Truth and in taking ownership of their faith in Christ.

:: We believe the Scriptures to be the inspired written word of God. It was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

:: We believe there is only one True and Living God, eternally existing in three persons (otherwise known as “the trinity”). The trinity represents the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - equal in power and glory, fulfilling specific roles within the God-head.

:: We believe Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth.

:: We believe Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own.

:: We believe man was originally created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God; thus, he was alienated from his Creator. That historic fall brought all mankind under divine condemnation. Man's nature is corrupted, and he is thus totally unable to please God. Every man is in need of redemption to bridge the gap between sinful man and a Holy God.

:: We believe the salvation of man is wholly a work of God's free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and as a result, they are justified in His sight.

About the Founder

Vicki Courtney [Founder, Virtuous Reality]
Hometown: Austin. Texas

As the only member of the Virtuous Reality team who can ride a unicycle, Vicki brings her passion for life and faith to the ministry, both in its birth and regeneration. In overseeing the direction and function of Virtuous Reality, Vicki founded the ministry with a resolve to make a difference in the lives of young women in relation to culture, faith and life.

With 15 publications in circulation, including the Teen Virtue series, Between: A Girl’s Guide to Life, Your Girl: Raising a Godly Daughter and His Girl devotional, Vicki writes specifically for the tween and teen audience regarding issues and trends most relevant to their life stage - such as worth, modesty and purity. Also addressing parents, Vicki offers advice on issues ranging from internet safety and relationships to pop culture and character building. Her Virtue Alert blog is also a resource for parents, discussing like topics and the latest happenings in teen culture. Vicki uses her blog as a tool to stay in touch with her parent-base and updates it several times a week.

Vicki holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin, along with a minor in sociology. However, she would tell you that she is most proud to be a wife (to best friend, Keith) and mom (to three teens and two pint-sized Yorkies).
