Instead of trying to determine what career God wants you to have in the future, or how He plans for your life to play out in its entirety, focus on the immediate. What I mean is, focus on how you can serve God today, right now, in your school, at home, at your church, on your sports team, etc. You can serve God in everyday stuff like helping your mom, even when she doesn’t ask or talking to someone at school who doesn’t have many friends.
In Jeremiah 29:11 God says that He knows the plans He has for us. He does not say that He is necessarily going to tell us those plans, but we can rest in the fact that He has a perfect plan for our lives that will play out in His timing.
James, a brother of Jesus puts this perfectly, “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:14-15)
We may not know how exactly how our lives will play out, but while we are here on earth, we know that God’s desire for us is to love and serve Him and others in every way possible. “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Gal. 6:10)
