You asked me the most important question that any believer could ever ask. “How do you hear God’s voice?” Sadly, most Christians don’t care to know the answer and some are too busy to even care. Hearing God’s voice is extremely important if we want a sincere relationship with Him. The first step to hearing God’s voice is accepting Jesus as your Savoir. Having Jesus in your heart is like having a direct phone line to God, and He always is there to answer.
If you had a friend that you called all the time and you never let her talk, how much do you think you would know about her? Not much, right? A lot of Christians are this type of friend to God. They pray all the time and ask, ask, ask, but don’t listen to Him and what He has to say about our lives. To have a real relationship with someone, you have to do a lot of listening and some talking. That’s the way it is with God, so we can get to know Him and love Him like Jesus did.
We know why it is important to hear God’s voice. But the question is, “How do we hear God’s voice, and make sure that it isn’t our own?” Noelle, here’s the answer.
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth," (Psalm 46:10). To hear God’s voice is absolutely necessary that you are still in your thoughts and in your heart. This is a very hard thing to do especially in the hurried world that we live in. Sometimes I have to make myself sit down and be silent before I pray or read my Bible, and that’s extremely hard for me because I’m hyper :) Sometimes the Lord’s voice is as quiet as a whisper, and that’s why it is important for us to be quiet and still before Him. “After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper,” (1 Kings 19:12). Let’s listen to His whispers, Noelle.
You hear God’s voice by being still before Him, by reading the Bible, and by the convictions of the Holy Spirit, and sometimes He will use the advice of a Godly parent or friend to speak to us. It is very important to keep in touch with the Father on a daily basis because sometimes a Godly friend or parent isn’t always right. Ask God to speak to you, and ask Him to give you a listening heart because that is usually where He speaks :)
God whispers, let’s listen.

I have been hearing from god for a long time and i am a firm believer in him because he is my saviour. my question is it seems that in your christian walk god will pour things into your spirit and also warn you before destruction; however lately he has done both alot with me and all of the things that he has allowed that are bad happen quick fast and in a hurry, but the good things i am still waiting on and it is very frustrating because i have deadlines to met and i cant do them right now unless he moves quickly like he has promised. i do know that god is going to do everything he has said because he is not a man that should lie, but in this walk our fleshly side does get tired and weary and that is where i am right now.

I really liked this article, and I realize I need to slow down a little and just listen for him. Now that I think about it, a lot of pastors have told me that in some way or another. I've also been told that you can tell it's God's voice and not your own when the voice inside your head is saying something that will glorify God, not the world.
