During a recent layover, I picked up a copy of US Weekly to help pass the time. Somewhere in between the articles about baby Suri Cruise getting her first tooth and Nicole Ritchie getting her second DUI, I stumbled upon a fashion alert that high-waisted pants are coming back. As I looked at the pictures of recently-spotted Hollywood celebs, Jessica Simpson and Mischa Barton donning this "new" trend, I am not sure if I felt relieved or repulsed. Look, I’m all for seeing more modest clothes in the stores, but seriously, those are some HIGH-WAISTED pants! I had to crack up because my daughter (c’mon, you probably have too) jokingly refers to high-waisted jeans as "mom jeans." And now they're in style and Jessica and Mischa get the credit. Go figure. I guess you could say that your mom is a trend-setter.
So, what do you think? Are you planning to raid Mom’s closet and swipe her high-waisted jeans? If you do, be sure to send us a picture!

I can't believe that you wrote that! I just informed my own mother of the so-called "new" trend and she couldn't stop laughing either. I'm not surprised that this trend is returning again. It seems they lap every decade or so. I'm happy to see the 'celebs' wearing clothing that actually covers their bodies, but I wouldn't even dream of going as far to say that they're beginning a new trend!
Now I'm excited for next year's school year to see if any of the 'fashionistas' at my school will follow this trend- a trend that will make me much happier than the 'skinny' jeans that are now in.

yeah, they said that they were going to come back last year, too! i dont think they will. like you said, im all for more modest clothing, but these are just ( in my opinion ) ugly!

I honestly hope I NEVER wear pants that high. I don't wear mine very low, but I honestly don't like the style of high pants. Like you said, they're mom jeans. lol

Hey,
When I told my mom about this new trend she diagreed. She thought that low waisted where much nicer looking. Although, I like high rise skirts. I can see where they are called mom jeans. Lol

I personally like low waisted much better than high waisted. Aprt from them making your hips look Way too big, They're uncomfortable!!! Hope theses don't come back in style
