How to Stay Beautiful this New Year!

girl%20and%20mirror%202.jpgDo you want beauty that lasts? Do you want beauty that’s worth more than diamonds or any other precious stone? A virtuous woman is worth more than rubies! (Proverbs 31:10) To be virtuous is to be beautiful! The world would not agree, as beauty is judged on merely outward appearances - a standard nearly impossible to uphold (especially in the digital age when Photoshop is readily available and widely used). Have hope, there’s a beauty that goes beyond the reflection in the mirror.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised!” (Proverbs 31:30) What beauty fades?!? Yes, Tyra Banks or Heidi Klum are not going to be making the big bucks in their careers at 80-years-old. The look that they have now is going to turn into something that the world does NOT value: saggy, gray, and wrinkled.

So how do we stay beautiful? How do we become virtuous? Fear the Lord, obey Him, trust Him, and love Him! “But seek first HIS KINGDOM and HIS RIGHTOUESNESS, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). God supplies all our needs and when we seek Him first, he gives us an inner beauty that surpasses the worth of the most beautiful diamond. God’s beauty living in us is a loveliness that can only reach the heart.

It is so easy to fall into the dangerous trap of self-pity when you don’t look like a supermodel. Do you know the number one way to keep a positive view of yourself? Fix your eyes on Jesus! He deems you worthy and beautiful! That’s why he bore the cross and its shame. He sees both your potential and worth, so praise His Name! Stop suffering from low self-esteem, eating disorders, or other havoc you receive when you focus on the world’s standards of beauty. Focus on God and believe me, your perspective of beauty and yourself are sure to change.

In this New Year, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).

Okay, I know I'm a guy and this is mostly a website for girls. But God's word is for all, right? So, I just wanted to say that the message in this article has really struck a cord in my heart.

This is because I recently stumbled on a note as I was walking down the hallway in school. The writer, I judged, was a girl and from the message she wrote she was in deep distress over her boyfriend who had cheated on her with another "prettier girl".She was so devastated that she actully cut herself and smeared the blood all over the note.

In my opinion all girls are unique and BEAUTIFUL 'coz God made them that way!!!

And to all you girls out there who think that you are not pretty enough coz some guy/girl made you feel that way,be encouraged and run to the one who loves you more than ever...Jesus!!!!

Luv,
Bryan.

Tori:

Okay, i know there are a lot of girls out there who feel insicure about the way you look sometimes because a guy tells you ur not pretty enough. Well i have had experience with guys like that, trust me it's not fun but just know that you are pretty in every single wayand if a guy tells you that ur not pretty than tell him to get lost!
If you ever need any encoragment then you should try listening to Lindsey Kane's Measure of Beauty. I went to the You & Me things in Spartensburg and herd her, she was totally amazing and very nice and encouraging. Anyway it dosen't matter what other guys think of you GOD is tha only one that matters!!!

Tori =)

I know that many people say "oh you are beautiful because God created" you or "God's thought's about you are the only ones that matter." Well that does no work for everyone. Some females need more than that to shake their state of hateing themselves.

Bec:

Thanks for ur comment bryan! it was beautiful! its encouraging 2 know that u c girls 4 wat they really r- beautiful.
and remember girls- wen God looks at u he smiles and, proudly as ever, whispers "shes mine."
God bless<3

mellie:

bryan, thanks for ur comment.
u kno, most girls (ashamedly, including myself) believe boys are heartless monsters that act on the flesh only; but when i saw ur message from a boy himself noticing emotional hurts we girls have, thats really special.
GOD BLESS U =]

Naomi :

That was a really nice and encouraging comment, Bryan. Thank you for posting that!

It's so sad how so many girls focus only on outward beauty...so empty. A truly beautiful young woman is one who knows God, loves God, obeys God and loves others. Very nice article.

Dear Anonymous,
I believe that when I became a christian I layed all my sin,all my burdans down before Jesus' feet.Well,if you don't feel like God made you beautiful, you CAN lay it down before Jesus. This is why he died on the cross- so you can be free of all that crap the world trys to lay on us.So even if it takes a while for God to fully lift this feeling of not-being-made-beautiful from your heart, just know that you can trust God to come through-He always does!
